Web Installation

Once the FTP upload is complete you will see this screen (if you manually upladed the files then point your browser to http://yourdomain.com/install to get to this screen).

Web Installation Welcome Screen

On the left hand side of the screen you can see which part of the installation routine you are currently at and which processes you have yet to complete.  When ready press "Continue Installation" to move to the next process.

The next screen checks permissions are correct.  If you don't see all green results click here for an overview on how to fix the problem.

All file and folder permissions set correctly

Click continue to proceed to the Basic Configuration Setup.  The information requested is self explanatory, however note that you can use basic HTML in the signature.

Basic Configuration Setup

When you click Continue Installation the program records the information you entered and proceeds to the Database Connection Information screen.  If you have not created a database yet open a new browser and proceed to your hosting control panel.  Locate the MySQL database icon which usually looks something like this:-

MySQL Database icon

Creating a database is outside the scope of this manual but a searching google will reveal many tutorials.  If you prefix it with your control panel name you will find something specific to your needs.  For example if you use cPanel try searching in Google for cpanel mysql database tutorial.

Entering database information

If you enter the correct database information the database will be created and you will see a message similar to the following.

Database tables installed

Click Continue Installation for the final screen.  At this point the installation is nearly complete, there are just two more tasks and how these are done depends on the type of hosting you have.

Installation final screen

404 Redirection

This is used for multiple features such as newsletters, virtual pages and the rotator.  Each control panel has a different method therefore if you cannot see how to do this in your control panel you must contact your hosting provider.

Schedule File

An important part of the configuration is to setup the scheduling, this handles many calculations within the program such as competition and prize information.  Like 404 redirection if you are unsure how to setup a cron schedule you must contact your hosting provider.  Often they will only give you access to this feature if you ask so your host is the best place to get assistance.  If you are keen to learn how to do this for yourself there are plenty of online tutorials (click here for an example list).

Migration

With the high demand for the Ventrino Traffic Exchange we have created a large number of migration scripts to enable you to upgrade with ease.  These include Traffic DX, LJ, TCN, Harland, PHP Lite, BlueSoftWeb, MLTE, ASES, Admin, TX-ScriptJet and many others.  If you have access to your old database the Migration process will copy over the data.  All members, their credits and urls at a minimum will convert.

Delete the install folder

It is important to delete the install folder once the above tasks are succesfully completed.  You will find the install folder located in the main folder for your traffic exchange (usually public_html/install, htdocs/install or wwwroot/install).

Now we're ready to start configuring the script
