The BCP Home Page

In red across the top you will have a link Click here to install ip2nation tables (Geo Tracking).  This enables you to provide location information throughout the application.  It is recommended that you do not install this from the start, it is better to become aquainted with the script before hand.

Many of the menu options are self explanatory and trial and error may save you a lot of time during the configuration and operation of you website.  However the rest of this section will deal with common configuration steps for new websites.  We will go through a step by step process and the descriptions will be brief.  You can refer back to other parts of the user manual if you wish to go into a particular subject in more depth.

Where do I go first?

Good question.  You have logged in and possibly had a look around before turing to the user manual because it all seems too much to get started!  The good news is your site already has a basic setup and with just a few changes you can go live right away.  First, and most important, lets make sure you can take money.

General Setup

Theoretically you can leave the site as it is and it can take money, but that's a bit like taking a TV dinner out of the microwave and expecting it to taste like something from Claridges.  However, a reputation is built slowly and there is no need to expect everything to happen instantly, build your site step by step and remember each time you improve it that improvement will last for ever and will continue to impress and persuade people to work with you over and over again.

Your style is important, it's what distinguishes you from the next website and we have built in many opportunities for you to express yourself.  As we go through the next few features you have the opportunity to sell yourself to your members and these simple tasks could be the most important to the success of your site.

Another good place for marketing and providing links to other sites.  You can alter the text used or remove the page statistics entirely.
Edit the front page BCP --> Frontpage Manager The Frontpage Manager allows you to alter the main canvas on the home page of your website. Use your favourite HTML editor to create your home page introduction to your site.

Once you have completed the above visitors to your site have a good idea of who you are and what services you offer but there is still more to be done.  Setting prices for traffic and pro memberships for example.  You can revisit these areas and keep updating them as you refine your service.

An important step is the overal look of your site.  This can start with a logo and a change of colors and could develop to a complete replacement of the standard templates.  If you are familiar with HTML and graphic design you will find this straight forward, check the How Do I .... section for more information on templates.

What if I don't know HTML or how to create a logo?

There are several people on the forum who offer service at reasonable prices.  They can offer to create a logo for you or will replace the entire standard template with a design to your specification.  Click here to visit The Third Party Products & Services.  Note that you cannot post a request in this forum, instead use the contact information in the post to talk directly to them.

Email Configuration

Communicating with your community is probably the most important part of operating a traffic exchange therefore the next important step is to go BCP --> Configuration --> Email Configuration.  Most of the inputs required are self explanatory, when it comes to the Email Sending Method and STP Server Settings leave them as the default (PHP Mail Function and all SMTP fields blank).
