Ventrino Forum for Walker Scripts _ Ventrino FAQ _ Automating Scheduled.php

ISSUE

In version 3 you need to setup a regular schedule to take advantage of some of the extra features. Ideally this should run every 10 minutes. At the end of the installation you will be given a link similar to http://yoursite.com/backend/schedule.php which is the file that needs to be called.

SOLUTION

Check with your ISP
Most hosting companies will allow you to setup a cron job, checkout Dougs excellent post with more information on setting up a cron job here:-

Do it yourself
If your ISP refuses any cron or schedule (and this is common with bulk hosting suppliers) your only option is to place the schedule on your own PC to run. For instructions on using your own PC http://forum.ventrino.com/index.php?showtopic=2945.

... I don't require any such reference to this or any file. I'm a bit confused about this (not knowing about cron jobs) - are you saying we need to 'run' the URL (http://yoursite.com/backend/schedule.php) in the browser every 10 minutes? How on earth do we achieve that?

Hi Simon,

Anyone running version 3 on our hosting (ie yes we are your ISP) then this is taken care of for you automatically.

So no - there's nothing you have to do smile.gif
