Can anyone suggest any free graphics programs that are good for developing logos and banners? I use Xara but it's not free (however it has dropped in price over the years, I think I originall paidy

Hiya!
I have found.. the best spot for free graphics is http://sxc.hu - lurve that place, good quality stuff and it's all free and legal to use. Then.. now - ok - I am biased 'cause they are my biz partners and all, but Soren and John have Instant Banner Creator. It's free entry, you can do static banners and use your own images (ie from http://sxc.hu - or whatever). You can pay a monthly fee to use their graphics and make animated stuff -and... it's all drag and drop. I know, like I said - I am biased, but it's kinda a cool program
